Lower rate of closed cases due to more calls, limited resources
The McMinn County Sheriff's Department and the Athens Police Department both rate lower than the state average on the percentage of cleared cases worked but the heads of both departments say they are doing all they can with the resources at hand.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation recently released its annual Crime in Tennessee statistics with the McMinn County Sheriff's Department and the Athens Police Department both showing around 24 percent of their cases being closed.
Motorcycle gang member arrested for meth
An Adams man arrested Thursday at his home is accused of making methamphetamine and being part of a motorcycle gang.
While conducting a search warrant, authorities found 48-year-old Ricky Andrew Ingalls sleeping in his bedroom, where there also was an aggressive pit bull, and arrested Ingalls after he got control of his dog, a criminal complaint says.
Men stole meth materials from farms
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Two Northwest Missouri men were arrested Friday in connection with the theft of materials from area farms, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
Billy Albert Hatfield, 29, Chillicothe; and Wilbur Eugene Brock Jr., 38, Trenton, were arrested for investigation into the alleged attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia, attempting to manufacture methamphetamine, traffic violation(s) and trespassing, said Sheriff Steve Cox.
