Drug ring smuggled meth from Mexico to U.S.

Philadelphia, PA - A drug trafficking ring that smuggled regular shipments of crystal meth and marijuana into South Jersey has been broken up and 28 people arrested, law enforcement officials said today.

The group used the U.S. Mail to ship 20 to 30 pounds of marijuana two to four times a week from Texas to South Jersey, and made weekly deliveries of four to six pounds of crystal meth by car from Ohio, said Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk.

Woman pleads guilty to shipping meth to daughters

MO - A Flemington woman  pleaded guilty in federal court to her role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, according to the office of Matt J. Whitworth, United States attorney of the Western District of Missouri. The conviction is a result of Operation Family Tree, a multi-agency investigation into shipments of large quantities of meth from Arizona for distribution in Greene County.

Lori G. Weese, 49, of Flemington pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. England on Dec. 8 to her role in a conspiracy to distribute meth in Greene County from December 2004 to November 2006. She also pleaded guilty to her role in a money laundering conspiracy involving drug trafficking proceeds.

Kidnapper Phillip Garrido may supplied meth for wife

The couple accused of kidnapping and raping Jaycee Dugard will be back in court Friday.

And one topic that may come up is Nancy Garrido's apparent past drug use.

Numerous sources tell CBS News her was heavily into methamphetamines, supplied by her husband, Phillip Garrido, reports "Early Show" National Correspondent Hattie Kauffman.
