The situation: Nebraska -- a neighbor to some of the country's hotbeds of methamphetamine -- has been at least partially successful in slowing the growth of the drug. Legislation to curtail sales of the precursor ingredient pseudoephedrine has helped cut clandestine lab interdictions by more than 90% from 2005 to 2010. According to the most recent assessment of the Office of National Drug Control Policy: "Methamphetamine is the major concern for law enforcement within the state of Nebraska. The availability of imported methamphetamine is stable in all areas of Nebraska with a negligible presence of local low-yield labs in the rural areas."
