Terree Schmidt-Whelan, Ph. D.
Co-Director of the National Meth Center
Terree Schmidt-Whelan has been at the Pierce County (Wash.)
Alliance since 1980 and currently services as its executive director.
Dr. Whelan's primary responsibility is for overall management, planning
and operation of this large, private, non-profit corporation supporting a
variety of social service programs. Primary programs include treatment
court programs in support of the Pierce County Superior Court for
adults, and family court. Other programs include government-subsidized
drug and alcohol treatment programs and specialized programs for at
-risk youth and foster care recruitment and support.
She also maintains legislative liaison and oversees grant development funding and resource allocation. Government relations/education for contract chemical dependency services in Washington State and at the federal level on forensic toxicology issues, methamphetamine and Washington State Methamphetamine Initiative.
The agency has been consistently recognized for managerial, program, excellence and innovation by outside evaluators and governmental authorities.
