18 people sentenced for meth lab involvement
GREENSBORO - Eighteen people have been sentenced for their involvement with a Davidson County meth lab.
Benny Wayne Franklin, 31, of Denton, pleaded guilty May 16 to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephedrine, a chemical commonly used to manufacture meth. U.S. Judge William L. Osteen Jr. gave him the stiffest sentence, 30 years.
Condition of girl who drank meth chemical improves
WEAVER - Doctors say an 11-year-old Calhoun County girl who was hospitalized after drinking acid that had been left in a soda bottle is improving and her condition has been upgraded.
Children's Hospital in Birmingham said Wednesday that Kristen Michelle Kelley's condition was changed from critical to serious.
Wanted trafficking suspect found asleep among hay bales
CARTHAGE, Mo. - A Springfield man, suspected of trafficking in methamphetamine, apparently hid among hay bales and outbuildings for two days before he was found sleeping between two hay bales early Wednesday.
Jasper County Sheriff's Capt. Derek Walrod said Cipriana J. Gomez, 29, Springfield, was captured at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in a field east of Carthage and is currently being held in the Jasper County Jail in Carthage.
