Local Missouri governments monitor city's meth law
Fed up with inaction on the part of the Missouri Legislature when it comes to combating methamphetamine labs, local governments are taking things into their own hands by requiring a prescription for certain cold and allergy medications. Last week, the Washington, Mo., City Council became the first local government in the country to require a prescription for purchases of over-the-counter medications that contain pseudoephedrine — meth's main ingredient.
Jefferson County Executive Chuck Banks said he plans to propose a similar ordinance at a county committee meeting Tuesday. Jefferson County has long led the state in meth labs.
Federal charges filed against meth dealers
MN - Three area residents were charged in U.S. District Court with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines and two counts of distributing meth.
They are Brian Dale Eide, 31, of 529 Second Ave. N.W., Rochester, Kristin Rose Walker, 26, of Dodge Center, and John Howard Rose, 49, of Pine Island. Because of the federal charges, similar ones filed against them filed in March in Goodhue District Court were dismissed June 15.
Area prepares as meth hits neighboring counties
VA - Methamphetamine manufacturing and widespread use of the drug has avoided Danville and Pittsylvania County, even though its production has surfaced in the Shenandoah Valley and Caswell County in North Carolina.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office busted its first confirmed meth lab Tuesday. Sheriff Mike Welch said they found evidence of a lab while searching the home of Stanley Wade Chastain.
