British Columbia considers mandatory jail time for drug crimes
Vancouver, Canada - Federal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson was in Vancouver yesterday to drum up support for a bill that would impose mandatory sentences for drug producers and traffickers.
“Illicit drug production is the No. 1 source of income for gangs and organized crime,” said Nicholson after touring a mock grow-op at the fire department’s training facility. The fake pot plants were green plastic bags sitting on bamboo stems.
Welfare check on baby results in meth lab bust
Jasper County, TX - Concern for the welfare of a baby led sheriff's deputies in Jasper County to come across a methamphetamine lab.
We are told by a sheriff's office spokesperson that a deputy discovered the lab when he showed up at a home on FM 252 a few miles south of Jasper Wednesday night in response to a call regarding a small child that was believed to be badly sunburned.
A hazmat team from Beaumont was dispatched to help with the cleanup. No arrests have been made but a number of folks from inside the home have been questioned by authorities.
Kids find meth lab while playing in woods
Marshall County, AL - An afternoon of 4-wheeling leads to a dangerous discovery for some boys in Marshall County. They found a meth lab in the woods near their home.
A 10-year-old boy and his nine-year-old cousin were riding their 4-wheelers, through the woods around their Marshall County home.
