The situation: So far there is little reason to
assume the methamphetamine epidemic has
arrived on Delaware's shores. While the drug
is generally available in limited quantities, it is
primarily a summer phenomina in the popular
Rehoboth Beach area. Heroin, powder and
crack cocaine, and marijuana -- are the four
most available, popular, and trafficked illegal
drugs in Delaware.
Meth in Delaware
-- In the past five years (2006-2010) 102 drug
treatment admissions were for amphetamines,
including meth. That is about as many as
Missouri would see in two weeks on average.
-- No (zero) clandestine methamphetamine labs
have been found in Delaware since 2004.
In contrast, Tennessee law enforcement raided more
than 2,000 labs in 2010 alone.
-- The Drug Enforcement Administration has seized less than one kilogram of methamphetamine in Delaware since 2005.
