What meth looks like

The drug is seen in three basic forms.

Crystal meth (left) is the most addictive and fast-acting type of the drug. Crystal is generally snorted or smoked. Some crystal meth is flavored to avoid the harsh bitter taste.

Powder methamphetamine (shown at left in aluminum foil) also can be snorted, smoked or injected when reduced to a liquid.

Pills are ingested and generally do not cause the immediate or long-lasting high of either crystal or powder. Some methamphetamine was sold legally as a weight-reduction aid or for several psychological problems.

Methamphetamine goes by many names.
