Sheriff supports Miss. meth bill
Rankin County, MS - Long-time Sheriff Ronnie Pennington said he's witnessed the growing snowball of methamphetamine use, and that's reason enough for him to support legislation aiming to stifle the illicit drug. A bill to require prescriptions for purchase of medicine containing pseudoephedrine, including Sudafed and Zyrtec D, has cleared both legislative chambers. Gov. Haley Barbour's signature is expected this week.
High level meth dealer arrested
WA - A man deported to Mexico twice since 2007 after felony convictions in the United States was arrested Friday at the Fred Meyer parking lot in Lacey on suspicion of agreeing to sell an undercover informant a quarter-ounce of methamphetamine, court papers state. Gaston Ramirez-Valencia, 27, who lists an Olympia address, was convicted after a 2006 arrest in Thurston County for unlawful delivery of more than four ounces of methamphetamine, court papers state. In January 2007, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials deported Ramirez-Valencia to Mexico, ICE spokeswoman Lorie Dankers confirmed Monday.

CA - RichgroveTulare County Sheriff's deputies stopped a Richgrove man around 9 p.m. Monday when they noticed he appeared to be under the influence. Deputies stopped Bonifacio Ortega Garcia, 22, at the intersection of Wheatland and Ensign drives in Richgrove.
