Officers seize more than $4 million in meth
Waynesville, MO - Waynesville police say a security check at a closed business led to the seizure of more than $10 million in cocaine and methamphetamine. Waynesville police Lt. Gary Brankel says police received a call Tuesday night reporting suspicious activity at the closed Whitmore Farms west of Waynesville. An officer doing a security check saw several vehicles at the site. Police say a subsequent search led to the seizure of 89 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $4.1 million, and 99.6 pounds of cocaine valued at $6.1 million. Brankel says the suspects fled the scene and no one was arrested.
Ore. programs join forces, help kids of meth-impacted families
When northeast Salem resident Lucas Carpenter, 35, was arrested in June on theft and meth charges, he just felt failure and regret. He was having problems with his marriage, his children and his self-esteem. But Carpenter underwent a turnaround as a participant of the Center for Family Success, a nonprofit program for parents with criminal backgrounds. He's going through drug treatment, family counseling, financial management and parenting classes. "My life's in the middle of a complete overhaul," he said.
Trio caught with meth, 400 pseudoephedrine pills
Mount Vernon, IN - At 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Indiana State Police, federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents and Posey County Sheriff’s deputies went to Green Valley Apartments to investigate a complaint of illegal drug activity. When troopers approached Apt. 7 there they detected an odor of burnt marijuana, according to a state police report. The apartment was searched and officers found 20 grams of methamphetamine, 400 pseudoephedrine pills, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana, the report said. Pseudoephedrine pills are used to manufacture meth.
