Meth lab fire injures 3
Investigators have concluded an explosion and fire at a mobile home in Billings that injured three people Thursday night involved a methamphetamine laboratory, Christian County Sheriff Joey Kyle said.
Two of the unidentified people were flown to a Springfield hospital after the 10:30 p.m. incident.
One of the people suffered burns over most of the body, Kyle said.
Missouri bill calls for drug testing of aid recipients
Legislation approved by the Missouri House could mean drug testing for applicants and recipients of need-based state aid.
House Bill 30, sponsored by Rep. Ellen Brandom (R-Sikeston), would require testing of individuals receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funds if there is reasonable suspicion to believe the person is illegally using a controlled substance. A failed test could mean a loss of TANF funds for at least a year.
Parents had meth labs in home and car
Three children, ages 9 months, 2 years and 5 years, were taken into protective custody Thursday after a working meth lab was found in their home, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said.
According to a written statement, deputies were called to a mobile home on lot 678 at West Haven Mobile Home Park for a welfare check on the children.
