Meth trafficking charges against Chinese-Mexican may be dropped
Washington, D.C. - Federal prosecutors cited problems with evidence Monday when they asked a judge to drop charges against a Chinese-Mexican businessman accused of importing large amounts of methamphetamines to the United States.
U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan lambasted prosecutors at a hearing on the request to dismiss the indictment against Zhenli Ye Gon, saying, "I'm not pleased at all with anything I've heard from the United States government."

LA - A Tangipahoa Parish man has been sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for his part in a botched attempt to cook methamphetamine that blew up a Tickfaw trailer and killed one person more than two years ago, federal court records show.

Woman pays the price for part in man's fatal beating
UT - Tuusao Adele Ama just wanted to smoke some methamphetamine, her attorney said, but a judge on Monday sentenced Ama to 12 years to life in prison for walking in on a beating and giving a ride to the victim and his captors.
The victim, Jay Wolfinjer Jr., 32, eventually died of his injuries from the October beating. Ama in April pleaded guilty to manslaughter and to a more serious felony of kidnapping. Third District Court Judge Paul Maughan sentenced Ama to two to 15 years in prison for the manslaughter and 10 years to life in prison for the kidnapping. Maughan ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
$9 million meth lab lands man in prison
PA - A 43-year-old Exeter Township man was sentenced today in Berks County Court to eight to 20 years in state prison for running a $9 million methamphetamine lab.
Michael Spadafora of the 400 block of Wegman Road, Exeter Township, pleaded guilty just before jury selection began in his trial before Judge James M. Bucci.
