Man's meth use under scrutiny in murder case
CA - Opening statements are scheduled today in a trial that will determine whether an Indio man who beat his mother with household objects and then strangled her was sane at the time of the slaying.
Efrain Gutierrez, 43, was convicted of first-degree murder Friday of killing his mother on May 29, 2006.
Children, meth materials removed from home
Akron, OH - Ronald Copeland and Sasha Archer, both 37, face multiple drug and child endangering charges after officers found the makings of a methamphetamine laboratory in their West Waterloo Road home.
Officers went to their house after getting a tip. Copeland gave them permission to search Friday. They confiscated chemicals, glassware, tubing and other paraphernalia used to make methamphetamines and a .45-caliber pistol.
