'Meth mouth' gains attention in Hawaii
HI - In just a couple of school presentations so far this year, speakers from the Hawaii Meth Project have discovered that gruesome photos of an extremely painful condition called "meth mouth" send a more vivid anti-crystal methamphetamine message to Hawaii teenagers than any statistics or warnings from adults.
"Those pictures are certainly the attention-grabber," said Cindy Adams, executive director of the Hawaii Meth Project, which is planning to visit dozens of middle and high schools around the Islands this school year.
Home explodes due to meth lab
CA - A late-afternoon blast splintered parts of a house in an Ontario neighborhood Tuesday, and a state investigator on the scene said the home was the site of a meth lab.
The house in the 1000 block of Jacaranda Street exploded just after 4:30 p.m., scattering debris onto Jacaranda and Mountain Avenue, a neighbor said by phone.
Meth dealer sentenced to 24 years
Sacramento, CA - A Corning man, who allegedly orchestrated the late night, armed delivery of methamphetamine to a Yuba City parking lot, was sentenced to 24 years and seven months in federal prison Monday.
Undercover agents used an informant to set up delivery of four pounds of methamphetamine with Corning resident Victor Manuel Alvarado, 30.
