Oregon meth task force gives way to state panel
OR - Although methamphetamine remains a problem in Oregon, enough progress has been made so that Gov. Ted Kulongoski is turning over the work of a meth task force to a new Governor's Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission.
Kulongoski set up the Oregon Methamphetamine Task Force in December 2003. Earlier this year, lawmakers created a new commission to oversee state efforts against alcohol and drug abuse and confirmed Kulongoski's appointees to the panel last week.
Meth 'most destructive' among drugs plaguing Arkansas region
AR - An agent with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration said Wednesday that cocaine and crack are a major problem in Pine Bluff, as is ecstasy.
“It’s all about the money,” Bill Bryant, the assistant special agent in charge of the DEA in Arkansas, said during the Coffee with the Chiefs program at Southside Baptist Church. “It’s quick, easy money.”
Charges brought against accused meth ring participants
Harrisonburg, VA - A Mexican citizen living in Harrisonburg was one of eight people charged in connection with an alleged Valley methamphetamine ring, according to a federal indictment unsealed Friday in U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg.
Ernesto Munoz Salazar, 34, is charged with felony conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
