Teen meth use lowest in two decades
Methamphetamine use by teenagers in the United States has dropped to the lowest on record, according to a federal survey that has been published since 1999.
In the past year, only 1.2 percent of high school seniors used methamphetamine, the lowest figure since questions about the stimulant were added to the survey in 1999, when it was reported at 4.7 percent.
More children returning to foster care
NE - There was good news in 2008 about children in foster care.
The number of children dropped to 4,620, compared to 5,043 the year before.
And 572 -- 100 more than the year before -- found permanent adoptive homes.
Meth arrests total 21 people
SD - A monthlong investigation sparked by an informant's tip led to a series of arrests police say will shake up Sioux Falls' drug-using community.
The arrests, which took place Thursday and Sunday, netted 20 Sioux Falls residents and one man from Worthington, Minn., on methamphetamine-related charges.
